Aggie Newman

March 4, 1934 — November 14, 2016

Miss Aggie Brown was born on March 4, 1934, to the parentage of Wilson Brown and Maggie Petty. She was the youngest daughter. Her parents died when she was a child and she was raised by her brother, Marshall, and her older siblings.
She married Calvin Earl Newman on October 10, 1953, in Tyler, Texas. Their oldest child, Annie Joyce, was born in Lindale, Texas. They moved to Dallas in 1954 and were then blessed with six more children, Arrie Earl, Sherry Denise, Camillia Renee, Linda Gale, Calvin Lamar and Marshall Ray.
Mrs. Aggie grew up in Greater Hopewell B.C. in Swan, Texas. After moving to Dallas, she joined the Ledbetter Baptist Church in West Dallas. In the 1960s she moved her membership to the New El Bethel Baptist Church. She was always a
"doorkeeper" in the Lord's house, even as a child. She served over 50 years at New El Bethel on the Usher Board. She was an active Sunday School member and attended church faithfully until her health began to fail a few weeks ago.
Aggie worked as an election clerk for over 40 years. She loved to travel, and followed her husband to many cities in the summer to whichever city he was working, after shipping her children to Lindale. As she got older, she traveled by bus with a group to many destination cities. In her 70s she traveled to Honolulu, Hawaii, and the Southern Caribbean.
She leaves us happily to join her husband, Calvin; her sons; Arríe and Calvin; and also her siblings, Felton (Jack), Lily, Annie, Marshall, Angeline, Luerany (Fattie), Mary, Elizabeth, Leanne (Sue Peck), Wilson, Willie B. and LP.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Annie, Sherry, Camillia (Michael) and Linda; son, Marshall; four grandsons, Christopher, Kenneth, Arrie Jr. and Michael II; two granddaughters, Malecia and Adrienne; four great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter; her many nieces and nephews, which are too numerous to name; and a host of other relatives.
