Mesquite

Alberta Mrylene Anderson, 91, passed away on January 27, 2025 at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Lake Pointe in Rowlett, Texas. She was born on October 11, 1933 in Waxahachie, Texas to Albert and Lee Leslie (Allen) Chappell.

Alberta grew up in Crowell, Texas. She did not graduate from high school due to help take care of her nine siblings. She began work in the food service department at Texas Instruments as a hostess for the corporate dignitaries where she worked for 35 years and then retired. While working for Texas Instruments she was a hostess of many parties for the president of the company. She was presented with a gold watch and awards for her outstanding service. Alberta was involved in helping feed the homeless, participating in different lectureships, conferences, and door knocking within the Churches of Christ community.

Alberta married Edwin in 1951 in Crowell, Texas. They were married for 19 years. They divorced in 1975. Alberta was baptized in 1992 where she became a member at Overton Road Church of Christ. Overton Road was then moved to Mountainview Church of Christ where she continued to be a faithful member for many years. Later in life Alberta moved her membership to Church of Christ at North Glenn Heights.

Alberta enjoyed attending bible study, going to church, traveling and eating out at different restaurants. She loved shopping, getting her hair and nails done but most of all she LOVED to cook. She was BIG on being around and helping her family. Alberta’s biggest accomplishment and her joy was her FAMILY. She often said her mama told her to ALWAYS put family first.

Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Lee Leslie Chappell; brothers, Charles, James, Wilbur, Melvin; sister, Doris (Dot) Smith; son, Alton (Wayne); and one great granddaughter, Jessica.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Lincoln Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Church of Christ at North Glenn Heights, Regional Dialysis Center of Mesquite, all her doctors, family and friends for their wonderful love and support. From the family: We thank you for loving Alberta. We will cherish the love you have shown us. She touched many lives with her quick wit, sharp mind, laughter, wisdom, encouragement, jokes, amazing cooking skills, but most of all her LOVE.

Goodbye...

By N. Taylor

The church is full of people who have come to say goodbye

But no one wants to see you go and we’re all left asking why

In our pain and tears we share a heartache that cannot heal

But in our minds, we will keep Memories no one can steal

We all can feel your hand in ours and see your loving face

You haven’t gone I feel you here a love I can’t replace

You meant so much to each of us and in our hearts, you will always be

I hope you can see how precious you were to them, to us, to me.
