Reflection of Life
Alfred Earl Martin was born to the late Cap and Bessie Shepard Martin. He united with the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, at a young age and graduated from the Fairview High School in Linden Texas. Upon graduation. He moved to Dallas, Texas. Al is preceded in death by three sisters: Naomi Cross, Mandie Watson and Erma Caesar; four brothers, Felester, Louis, Billy and Clifton Martin.
Al began his career at Tyson Chicken Plant, and later became a butcher at what is now known as Safeway Food Stores. He continued his career at Minyard’s Food Store, where he worked until retirement. He married Barbara Ann, and to that union, three sons were born: Alfred Jr. and Austava Martin. Shea Martin preceded him in death.
Alfred loved to garden as well as play dominoes in his spare time. He was also the owner of a café for a number of years.
He leaves to cherish his sweet memory two sisters: Leola D. Ford of Oklahoma City and Iris N. Bradford of Desoto, Texas. Three brothers: Edward J. Martin of Oklahoma City, and Felix J. Martin of Linden, Texas. Special friends and caretaker, Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Allen, special daughter, Tamika and an adopted son, Quinton Hearne, Mrs. Viola Black, as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
