Mother Alice Lorraine Gray, 83, beloved mother, sister, friend, and grandmother passed away and received her heavenly reward on December 30, 2013 in Coppell, Texas. Mother Gray was born on August 11, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Fletcher and Lorraine Burns. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age.
Mother Gray and her brother grew up and enjoyed life in Kansas City, Missouri. She later graduated from Lincoln High School in the same city.
Mother Gray met and married Paul L. Gray, Sr. in 1948. He had served in the Navy during WWII, and became an attorney. Alice and Paul were blessed with four children, Paul Jr., Frankie, Jan, and Donna. In her professional life she worked for Social Security, and later retired from the Internal Revenue Service as Assistant to the Director of Problem Resolution.
Alice and Paul loved the Lord, and served Him faithfully. In Kansas City, she served along with her husband at Olivet Baptist Church. She was a deaconess, and served as a teacher in Sunday school.
Alice and Paul later moved with their family to Wichita, Kansas where Paul continued his law practice. Alice was a gracious hostess to the many invitations of family, friends, and business associates to their home. She continued to serve the Lord along with her husband at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Wichita, Kansas.
When her husband answered the call to preach in 1974 she lovingly supported him. When he became pastor to the Paradise Baptist Church in Wichita, Kansas, Alice embraced the ministry and people of the church. She was involved in every supportive aspect in the ministry. Mother Gray was highly visible and immersed in the growth of the church.
Mother Gray was an avid traveler. She and her husband enjoyed traveling immensely. They loved to visit their children, along with their own adventures. A highlight trip for her was when she visited the Holy Land in Israel.
When her health began to fail she was lovingly taken care of by her husband. In 2008, when he went to glory, she moved into her daughter Frankie?s home in Coppell, Texas. Frankie carried on in service to the Lord and to her Mother until her passing.
Mother Gray will be remembered as a Godly lady, who was loving, beautiful, and supportive to all family and friends.
