Annie Brackens

Annie B. Shaw Brackens was born on August 13, 1927, in Hearne, Texas to Matt and Anna Shaw. She attended Blackshear High School, graduating in 1947. After finishing school, she moved to Dallas, Texas. Annie met and married Alvin Brackens, and to this union six children were born: sons, Alvin Brackens Jr., Matthew, Melvin and twin boys who only lived a few hours; and one daughter, Carylon Brackens Price. Annie was a member of New Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church for many years.

Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Brackens, and their sons, Melvin and twins. She leaves behind sons, Alvin and Matthew Brackens; daughter, Carylon Brackens Price; four grandchildren: Angela Brackens, Gweenett Brackens, Alvin Brackens, and Calvin Brackens; 12 great-grandchildren; also two loving sisters: Geneva Eddington and Rubby Faye Grandville; and a host of other relatives and friends.
