Arvillia Chamae Johnson, affectionately known as Cha-Cha to her loved ones, was born October 3, 1963 in Dallas, TX. At the age of two years old, she moved with her parents to Los Angeles, CA and attended South Bay Christian Academy. The eldest of six, Cha-Cha was the only daughter of Isaac and Artha Jo Johnson. They returned to Dallas in 1977, and she served at Saintsville Church of God in Christ as a child and young adult in the Music Ministry.
After graduating from Temple Christian School in Dallas, TX in 1981, Cha-Cha pursued higher learning at Hayward University in Hayward, CA and East Texas State University in Commerce, TX. She worked as a manager for many years with multiple companies—including the family business, Ike’s Moving & Delivery. In 1987, she married Roy Woods and became the mother of a beautiful baby girl in 1989, naming her Brionne Roia (Ro-yā). Cha-Cha became a widow in 1998 and later gave birth to her adorable son, Issac Vincent, in 1991.
Cha-Cha would then later remarry and become First Lady to Minister David Whitaker in 1999. They resided in Duncanville, TX and were entrusted with two churches under the Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church—one in Melissa, TX and the other in Tuscumbia, AL where they later relocated. Upon David’s death, she returned to Texas and assisted her mother, Pastor Artha Jo Barrie, at Pure Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas.
Cha-Cha married Elder Eddie Davis in 2013, and they shared a home in Dallas until his health declined and he relocated to a nursing facility in Temple, TX. She continued to serve faithfully at Pure Faith until her health prevented it, yet she worshipped until her last couple of days. Cha-Cha praised God until the very end and was proceeded in death by her mother (Pastor Artha Jo Barrie), father (Pastor Isaac C. Johnson), aunt (Marilyn Johnson Ferguson), and uncle (Albert Johnson).
Cha-Cha leaves to celebrate her life and to continue her legacy a husband (Eddie Davis – Temple, TX), one daughter (Brionne Woods – Arlington, TX), one son (Isaac Spencer – Dallas, TX), a stepmother (Floristene Johnson – Dallas, TX), two aunts (Eddie Guane Johnson – Dallas, TX and Betty Holmes – Los Angeles CA), two uncles (Bobby H. Caldwell – Bellaire, TX and Pastor Donald Ferguson – Los Angeles, CA), one sister (Keesha Williams – Dallas, TX), and six brothers: Vincent H. Johnson (Lori) – Corona, CA; Clarence Johnson (Cindy) – Clinton, MI; Calvert Johnson – Albuquerque, NM; Derrick C. Johnson (Shaundale) – Arlington, TX; Ian Johnson (Montrice) – Dallas, TX; and Justin Johnson (Dimetria) – Dallas, TX. She continues to live in the hearts of her nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of family friends, especially those closest to her as the community babysitter.
