Bob Gipson

March 10, 1923 — March 4, 2015

Bob William Gipson born March 10, 1923 in Henderson, Texas - Rusk County and was the only son/child of Sarah M. Johnson. However he was loved and cherish by his grandmother and grandfather, aunts, uncles, cousin Alma Marie and other family & friends.

Mr. Gipson attended school and was educated in the Henderson education system, and as the story goes... he was somewhat of a rascal; however he was a good student and excelled in math. At an early age, he decided to pursue a career in the US military; later in life he received his GED.

For four years Mr. Gipson was a member of the US Army during World War 2 and served many capacities, serviceman, medic driver, supply clerk and boxer. In 1946 he was Honorable Discharged and return home. Soon thereafter, he moved to Dallas to live with his uncle. When moving in with his uncle Jasper, he had no idea that his future wife lived next door. He met his next door neighbor Pastor Alonzo Warren and was introduced to his granddaughter Willie Mae Augusta.

On April 16, 1946, after three months of courtship, they were married by Ms. Augusta's grandfather; to there union three daughters were born; Debra, Marsha, and Marilyn. Mr. Augusta. Mr. Gipson was a good father to his daughters.

Early in childhood, Mr. Gipson attended church with his aunt, Mattie Cox; his family attended Allen Chapel Baptist Church; later in life he attended First African Methodist Church of Dallas.

During his life Mr. Gipson was responsible husband and father, for over 40 years he worked in various careers; U.S. Army, truck driver, warehouseman, and over 25 years with DISD Custodial Service  as Head Supervisor Custodial Services; he retired in 1988. he loved cared and provided for his family..

In 1984, Mr. Gipson lost his wife of 38 yrs. Being a family man in, 1988 Mr. Gipson married Ms. Dovada Norfleet. They were married for 18 yrs. Mr. Gipson is preceded in death by both his wives and beloved daughter, Mrs. Debra Kay Gipson Anderson.
