Bonnie Mae Barkwell Howell Green was born October 5, 1929 in Omaha, Texas. She was the first child born to the union of McKinley Barkwell and Ludie Ruffin Barkwell. She grew up in the Mt. Zion community in Morris County where she attended the local school and joined the Mt. Zion AME Church.
Bonnie peacefully departed this life for eternity on October 20, 2020, in Dallas, Texas. Preceding her in death were her parents and three siblings: Johnnie Mae Barkwell Favors, Charles Marshall Barkwell and Samuel Travis (S. T.) Stigers.
Bonnie married James Roosevelt Howell (deceased) and to this union four children were born: Henry (Kathy) Howell, Belvia Howell, Abigail (Chris) Jones and Teddy Howell.
Later in life, Bonnie married James Green (deceased) and moved to Dallas, Texas. She was a member of Jordan Baptist Church.
Bonnie was witty, loving, kind and had an engaging smile. Her hobbies included cooking, listening to gospel music, dispensing words of wisdom and word search puzzles.
Bonnie is survived by her sister, Maxine Barkwell; her four children; a stepdaughter, Rooselene Franklin; fourteen grandchildren [Gabrielle and Christopher Howell; Kenneth (Daysha) and Brittani Smith-Howell; Kristal, Braston (Sandra) and Jairelle Williams; Austin and Justin Howell; Chris Jones, Jr., and Laquiesha (Carlton) Jones Higgins; and Erika, Erin and Emilee Santana]; thirteen great grandchildren [Kennedy Howell; Kenneth III, Daylan and Kaden Smith-Howell; Braylee, Kaleb, Laine, Chandler, Bentleigh and Bryson Williams; Adisa and Aziel Howell; and Charley Jones]; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
