Callie Smith was born May 9, 1925 in Mangham, Lousiana to the partentage of Allen Williams and Elnar Branch. She was eduated in Mangham School District and was a member of the Community Baptist Church during her residency in Mangham, La.
She moved to Shreveport, Louisiana during her early adult years; where she was united in marriage to Mr. Leo Kemp, Sr. Two children were born to this Union; Leo Jr. and Beulah Mae. She was preceded by her daughter Beulah.
She later married Mr. James Smith and to that union, no children were born.
She later married and resided in Lake Charles, La. for many years. She retired after 25 years of employment for the City of Lake Charles.
Callie never met a stranger and was very socialable. She would help anyone in need. She especially loved driving and traveling.
When she moved back to Shrereport, she united with the Union Star Baptist Church; under the leadership of Dr. T.C.L Ward; where she remained an active member until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Johnny Smith, sister Mattie Garrett, brothers Limmie McDaniel,Artis Byrd, three grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
She is survived by her son, Leo Kemp, Jr. (Essie) of Garland, Tx. two sisters Essie Carroll of San Francisco, Ca. and Mary Davis of San Francisco, Ca. fourteen grandchildren,fourteengreat grandchildren, four great, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
