Mr. Carl Lester Sheffield was born on September 4, 1951 in Terrell, TX to the parentage of Preston and Ella Rene Halton Sheffield. He battled with cancer during his last days but he never allowed it to change his humorous character and adamant love for his loved ones. Receiving Christ into his life at an early age, his love and relationship with God remained strong and steady. Carl entered eternal life on May 9, 2015.
Native of Terrell, TX, Carl moved to Dallas, TX at the age of sixteen. He attended John F. Kennedy High School where he graduated with honors. He served in the United States Air Force beginning in 1971. Following his service, he graduated from El Centro Community College with his Associate’s degree and later returned to school to complete his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Bishop College in Dallas, TX. Our father was a great believer in finishing and finishing well. One of his encouraging statements has been, “you have not failed until you’ve quit, so never give up.” Airman Sheffield was a loyal employee at the VA Hospital for over ten years. He owned a courier business for over five years and then became a dedicated employee of EcoLab for 20 years.
Carl Sheffield was preceded in death by his father, Preston Sheffield, his uncle, Clifford Lee Sheffield and sister, Alice Sheffield Bryson. Carl is survived by his loving mother, Ella Rene Sheffield of Dallas, TX, two daughters, Dana Sheffield and Destini’ Whitehead (Austin) of Dallas, TX, one son, Trenton Sheffield of Fort Worth, TX and three grandsons, Khobierre Sheffield, Konnor Sheffield-Colbert, and Preston Whitehead of Dallas, TX. He also leaves to cherish his memories, his sister, Martha Turner (George-deceased), seven brothers, Johnny Sheffield(Naomi-deceased), Charles Sheffield, James Sheffield (Margaret), Clifford Sheffield (Earline), Stanley Sheffield, Arthur Ray Sheffield and Gary Sheffield, one aunt, Bertha Mae Davis (Harold) of Terrell, TX, his best friend, Darrell Walker and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
