Carolyn Ann Griffin Scott was born March 3, 1943 to the late John Thomas and Blanche Marie Griffin in Greenville, TX. She was their first born of four children. At an early age Carolyn was baptized at Clarke Street Christian Church, Greenville, TX. She moved to Dallas at the age of seven.
She attended Julius C. Frazier and H.S. Thompson Elementary Schools. She later attended and graduated from Lincoln High School, Class of 1961 and briefly attended Huston-Tillotson University in Austin TX.
She was married to Preston Scott, Jr and to this union two children were born, Maloneé and Preston, III.
She was a former member of Romine Avenue Christian Church, Warren Avenue Christian Church, all of Dallas, TX. Carolyn was instrumental in organizing the Young Adult Ministry of District #2 of the Christian Church (DOC) and Texas Christian Ministry Fellowship. She sang in the choir along with participating in various ministries within the church. In 2004 she joined Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Karry D. Wesley. She again became a member of the choir and served on the Hospitality Ministry.
Carolyn enjoyed being with her family and friends. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and word puzzles. In her younger days she was an avid bowler. She was a member of several different bowling leagues. Carolyn loved sports and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks fan.
Carolyn was employed with the City of Dallas Water Department for over 20+ years and retired in 2014.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Tommy Joe Griffin.
Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory: 2 children Maloneé (Richard) Garrett, Preston III, 2 grandchildren Richard Jr. (Brittany), Kasee Garrett; 1 great grandchild Layla; 2 sisters Jacquelyn (James) Williams, Pamela White; 1 aunt Eva Richardson; 1 uncle Jesse Richardson; a special friend Jennifer Reed; god-daughter Natalie (Steve) Plummer; sister-in-law, Cynthia Griffin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family of faith.
