Clara Mae Daughtry was born to the parents of Comit and Mildred Daughtry on June 5, 1942 in Keatchie Louisiana. The family moved to Shreveport Louisiana when she was a young girl. Her parents later moved to Dallas, Texas when Clara was in her adulthood age. Her parents preceded her in death.
Clara received her education in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was Baptize at Bright Star Baptist Church at an early age.
She met Jordan Mims after moving to Dallas Texas. They were married and from this union six children were born. Clara later married Charles McNeil and moved to Hearne, Texas. She continued her walk in Christ as a member at New Elam Missionary Baptist Church singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, and serving as an usher. Her favorite song is Blessed, Better than Blessed.
Clara was a workaholic. She worked at Dairy Queen for a great amount of years. She later continued her career as a Cafeteria Assistant and was promoted as a Teacher Aide. She retired from Hearne Independent School District; but was not completed with her career; she continued working as a Nurse Assistant for a home health care service then she finally settled into retirement.
Clara loved everyone but, she had a special Love for each of her Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Clara was a Beautiful lady, she had a lovely Smile and a sweet caring Spirit.
Her Love was always Reciprocated.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles McNeil; three children, Lester, Pamela, and Margaret Mims; her parents Comit and Mildred Daughtry; Five brothers, Comit D., John D., Bera D., Robert D., and Lemie D., Daughtry; three sisters; Rosie Lee Daughtry-Edwards, Bertha Daughtry-Willis and Marye Daughtry-Brown.
Clara leaves to cherish her memories. One son, Jordan (Ida) Mims IV; Two daughters; Vera Mims and Wendy/Wooppee (Archie) Lewis all of Dallas, TX; One sister Mary Pearl Tucker of San Francisco, CA. Grandchildren; LaJordan (Annquenett) Shaw, Archie Lewis Jr., Jordan (Byrd) Mims V, Corvin (Popeye) Jefferson, and Clifton Lewis all of Dallas, TX. Great grandchildren Z’Unte (Z) McClenton, Niyanah Mims and a special daughter Debra Mims of Dallas, TX. She leaves behind several nieces and nephews and host of other family and friends.
