Obituary
Mr. Cotis Hawkins was born October 28, 1936 in Rockwall, Texas to the parentage of Harvey and Briggie Hawkins. He was preceded in his homegoing by mother and father, and two brothers Hardist Hawkins and B.H. Hawkins. He received his education in Mesquite, Texas.
Cotis attended St. Paul AME Church in Rockwall, Texas where he was a devoted and faithful servant of the Lord as a deacon for many years under the pastorship of Reverend Wren. He began work at an early age where he performed numerous jobs, one being a presription drug courier, and later in life became a professional industrial mechanical equipment painter.
Cotis entered into eternal rest on November 18, 2015 and leaves to cherish his memories: beloved wife, Katherine Turner Hawkins, three daughters: Debra Ogwo, Joann Chatmon (Dallas, Texas), and Angela Hawkins Rivas (Rockwall, Texas); sons: Anthony Ray Nixon, Ruben Nixon Jr. and wife Beverly Smith (Dallas,Texas), Ricky Chatmon (Arlington, Texas), Armond Chatmon, (San Leandro, California); five grandsons: Brandon Ogwo and wife Jasmine Ogwo, Emmanuel Ogwo, II, Corey Chatmon, Ethan Rivas, and Ruben Nixon III; one devoted and loving grand-daughter Patrice Symone Chatmon; great grandchildren: Brandon James Ogwo, Lyah Katherine Rose Ogwo; brothers: T.C. Hawkins and wife Beverly Hawkins, Jay Lee Hawkins; sisters: Rosa Penagraph and Emma Cullors.
