Delphine Griffin

Delphine Marie Lovett Griffin was born June 12, 1929 in Hampton, VA to the parents of the late Stanley and Glennon Lovett.

She attended and graduated from George P. Phenix High School and later enrolled in Dixie Hospital Nursing School in Virginia, where she graduated and became a registered nurse.

Del enjoyed helping and nurturing a variety of people in their illnesses, as well as, spiritually.

She accepted Christ at an early age at Ebenezer Baptist Church and was baptized there.

She met and married Elmore Griffin and to this union, 3 wonderful daughters were born: Debi, Darlene, and Lisa. After raising her children, she moved to Texas where she became an active member of First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park under the leadership of Dr. J. Lee Foster and continued to serve under Dr. Gregory Foster. She served in Mission No. One, where she continued to administer her love for Christ.

She was truly a loving, compassionate, thoughtful, caring and sincere person who became affectionately known as "Mother" She was always smiling and giving words of encouragement to anyone she encountered.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmore Griffin; three brothers, Willie Lovett, Phillip Lovett and Lawrence Lovett.

She will be forever missed and cherished. She is survived by 3 daughters, Debi (Ignacio), Darlene (Harry) and Lisa Griffin; 2 grandchidren, Aquila and Raquel; 1 great grandchild, Harmony; one brother, Stanley Lovett, Jr. (Connie); one sister, Doris Garron; in-laws, Hiawatha Griffin and Thelma Lovett and a host of other relatives and friends.
