Doris Nell Keatts was born July 20, 1932 in Trinidad, Texas. She is the daughter of William Troy Rasco and Ora Eunice Williams. Nell died July 8, 2013 in Rockwall, Texas at the age of 80 years old.
The Mother of six, Grandmother of eleven, Great-Grandmother of eighteen, and Great Great-Grandmother of one, Nell loved her family more than anything. She was happiest caring for those she loved; be it cooking up something for someone who dropped by to say Hi or giving a hug that always seemed to make everything better. Anyone who knows Nell; knew her door was always opened and that she loved company.
Nell loved to sing! She and her sister Patsy loved to hang out at the Big D Jamboree, in Dallas, where they met and became friends with many singers and musicians. Few people know that in 1947 at the age of 15, Nell sang back up on a song for Bill Nettles and The Dixie Blue Boys. The song, Hadacol Boogie, became a Top 10 Hit in 1949. Later in life Nell spent a lot of time singing with her Mother, Eunice, and Husband, Ray. They would sometimes record themselves singing, as if they were on a radio show.
Nell had the most amazing strength, which she credited the Lord for. She gave unselfishly and was happy to do so. No matter how hard times were for her, she would sacrifice for others. If she had ten dollars to her name, she would make sure to give you five. If you protested in her gift she would say, ?No Baby, you take that! The Lord will take care of me, I will be fine!?. And, for those who may not know, ?Happy, Happy, Happy!? was her motto long before Phil made it a popular phrase on Duck Dynasty.
Nell was preceded in death by her Father, William, who died when she was two years old; her Mother Eunice, her Step-Father, Nick; her husband, Ray; and her son, Ernest ?Bubba?. She leaves behind her daughters Kathy, Betty, Vicki, and Debbie; her son, Rusty; her sisters, Patsy and Shirley; as well as several Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews.
