The loving and kind generational life of Dorothy Mae Smith came to a peaceful end in the comfort of her home on September 25,2021.
Dorothy was born on May 3,1929 in Chidester Arkansas to the union of Robert and Lucy Goshen Laster who proceeded her in death along with sisters Elsie Mcllroy, Marganet Johnson, Ruth Holland and Opal Laster; brothers Willie Laster, Jimmy Laster and Charlie Laster.At a early age she met and fell in love with L.G. Smith whom she spent 65 years of marriage with before his death and their relocation to build their family of seven.
She accepted Christ as her lord and savior under the leadership of Roy McNeely Homeland Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a deaconess and sung in the choir until her health failed. Her hobbies included fishing, gardening, and cooking for her love ones.
She was loving, caring, and always had a open door and helping hand.Her favorite saying was We will see what the good Lord will bring`` and dont reach off. Her heart could light up a room. She was blessed to stay home and take care of family.
She leaves to cherish her legacy and memories two sons Larry Smith and Gus Thomas(Diana)Smith; five daughters Mary (Lorenzo) Williams, Linda Smith Deboarah (Vernado) Brown and Bernadette Smith of Dallas,TX and Joyce Cole of Monroe,LA; sixteen grandchildren, thirty six great-grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren,a special friend-fishing buddy Minnie Callahan, and a host of other relatives church family and friends.
