Mr. Earl Davis

February 7, 1940 — November 9, 2014

Earl Davis was born on February 7, 1940 in Marshall, Texas to Julius Davis and Lorene Powell Davis.  At an early age he joined St. John Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Pastor E.B. Humble.  Earl attended Kelley Elementary School and graduated from H.B. Pemberton Senior High School in 1959; it is noted that he was voted Most Handsome his senior year.
Shortly after high school graduation, he married Ruby Dell Washington. To this union three children were born; Sheila, Vincent and Bridget.

He worked as a truck driver for Sears and Yellow Freight Line, and retired after thirty-four years of combined service. He enjoyed working in his yard, and received compliments for how well kept his lawn was year round.  He demonstrated for his children and grandchildren the meaning of a  “good work ethic”. Earl enjoyed life and loved his family.  He had a competive spirit and was an avid NFL  football fan.  You could often find him on Sundays enjoying time with his son and grandsons.  The banter about the Cowboys could be heard throughout the house. He held a special place in his heart for his only granddaughter Chyna who was fondly referred to as his “Lil Turkey”.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Vernon Davis and  James Davis, three sisters Dorothy M. Tomkies, Ruth E. Edwards and  Ida Johnson and two nephews Hawley Williams, Jr. and Vernon K. Williams.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory; two daughters Sheila Davis Brooks- Ellsworth (Dallas, TX) and Bridget Davis Walker (Rockwall, TX); one son Vincent Earl Davis (Meachell) (Dallas, TX); three sisters Geneva Williams (Dallas, TX), Bertha Davis (Marshall, TX), Beverly Hanon (Longview, TX); a brother Robert L. Davis (Phoenix, AZ); five grandsons William Earl Brooks (Shannon), Dabrion Vincent Brooks (Sasha), Da’Rel Vincent Davis, Chase Stefan Walker, Devin Earl Davis; a granddaughter Chyna Nykol Renee Walker; four great grandsons whom he adored Jayden Vincent Brooks, Jamelle Vincent Brooks, Jaylon Earl Brooks, Jase Harold Brooks and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
