Eartha Hood

​Eartha's Life:
Sis Eartha Lee Brooks-Hood was born to the parents of Elmer J. Giles and Velma R. Rosebud on July 16, 1929. She attended school in Seagoville, TX. She met and married Charles Hood Jr. in 1947 in Mckinney, TX. To the union 3 children were born, Annie Pearl Hood-Jones, Edward Charles Hood and Billy Joe Hood.
The family moved to Dallas, TX, where she attended and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. She attended Velma B. Beauty College and recieved her cosmetology license. Sister Eartha L. Brooks-Hood worked for Parkland Hospital for 12 years. She opened up her beauty shop in the heart of West Dallas. She worked for Dallas Head Start until she retired.
Sister Eartha was a member of Sandhill Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Milas Shipp. Eartha moved her membership to Mayfield Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Hall until her health later failed her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer J. Giles and Velma P. Rosebud, her children; Annie Pearl-Jones, Edward Charles, Billy Joe Hood, brother Leroy Brooks and sister Betty Ann Jerigan.
She is survived by the love of her life over 75 years Charles Hood Jr. 5 grand daughters; Terri Beck (Keith), Patricia Jones, Catina Shaw Aisida (David), Shemekca Hood-Freeman (Derrick), Ashley Jones, 2 grandsons; Claude Jones Jr. (Kay), James Shaw Jr., and a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and great great great grandchildren.
3 special God daughters: Ms. Fannie Curry, Linda Campbell and Delores Robertson, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends that loved her dearly.
