Edward Leroy Mitchell, 58 of Dallas, TX (formerly of Mounds, IL) was born July 12, 1956 to the union of Mr. Alfreddie Mitchell Sr. and Mrs. Adrean Mitchell. Ed departed his earthly home Friday, April 17, 2015 after an extensive illness for his heavenly home.
Ed graduated from Meridian High School in Illinois where he met many lifelong friends. After graduation he worked for Elgin Mental Health Hospital dedicating 18 years of his life to giving the best of himself to those he worked with and the people he care for. His bond with co-workers was more like family relationships than friendships.
In August 2007, Ed and his wife Barbie move to Dallas, Texas to start a new chapter in their life. He was employed by Weir Oil and Gas (formerly Novatech) where he had many friends.
Ed was a free spirit and put his all into whatever he set out to do. He never met a stranger and he gave freely of himself in kindness and hospitality.
Ed was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents all of Illinois, two sisters, Rowena Michelle Mitchell and Lela (Pee-Wee) Mitchell-Howard. Two sister in-laws Clara M. Mitchell and Florence Renee Mitchell.
He leaves to to mourn his memory his wife Barbie L. Mitchell; 1son Trevor L. "Dillion" Mitchell, his parents Alfreddie Sr. and Adrean Mitchell; brothers, Alfreddie Mitchell, Jr., Marcus (Clara) Mitchell; 2 sisters, Rosetta (Larry) Mitchell-Clark and Teresa Mack. He also leaves four step children, Amber Gillespie, Emmanuel Jr., Marcus and William Dafe. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish and share his life stories.
