Emogene Wilson

August 19, 1921 — June 2, 2016

Emogene Wilson, the daughter of the late Jack and Della Davis, was the youngest of twelve siblings whom have all preceded her in death, was born in Deberry, Texas on Friday, August 19, 1921.

She answered proudly to Mama, Madea, Little Auntie, Aunt Emogene, Granny, Miss Harris, Sister Wilson, and Mother Wilson. She had a smile so bright, and we shall never forget that giggle of hers..

She was spiritually strong and centered; A beautiful child of God, who forever praised the Lord; even on her answering machine.  "John 3 and 16. For God so loveth the world that he gave His only begotten Son; that who-so-ever believeth in Him shall not perish but everlasting life. Please leave your message after the beep.  God loves you."  Every heart that loved her that she loved in return was shaped and molded by her ability to squeeze in a "Well, praise the Lord.." and a smile.

Mama had a successful career as a Master Barber. She was an independent woman to admire.  She was a one of a kind matriarch who made us all very proud, and she made our corner of the world a better place to be.  You knew where to find her @ 2547 Talco Drive.  You knew that phone number she's had since forever, since before there were area codes, was never going to change from 376-5128.  You knew she made the best peanut butter cookies, and tea cakes and hot water cornbread.  And if you were lucky as a kid, she was the first one to give you a serious hair cut, and precision groom your fro on school picture day.
"And so it is, in the essence of quietness, we reluctantly let her go to join her beloved son Arthur Lee, and the rest of her siblings, her mother and her father, to be in the presence of the Lord.  And Mama's strength, love and kindness will linger in the hearts of us all, especially her daughters Betty and Connie and her adopted daughter, Ester; her grandchildren, her great grandchildren, her nieces and nephews; along with numerous other loving relatives and friends."
