Esther Gloria Claybon was born September 9, 1929 to the parentage of the late L. E. Claybon Sr. and Dennis L. Claybon in Fort Worth, Texas. She passed December 15, 2013.
She joined Mt Zion Baptist Church in Forney, Texas at an early age. Later she united with New Birth Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.
Esther graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Forney. She earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree from Prairie View A&M University.
Esther was a dedicated teacher and educator for 36 years. ?Little Esther? began her career as a teacher and basketball coach at Pyle High School in Kaufman, Texas. She moved to Dallas in 1953 and began a 32 year career with Dallas ISD as a teacher and counselor.
Esther was an avid basketball fan. She loved watching ladies college and professional basketball. She was also a devoted wife and mother. She loved William; her husband of 45 years, son, and grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard ?Duck? Lister Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory: son William Lister II, grandson William Lister III, stepdaughter Selma Joan Lister, niece Vickie Lister, brother-in-law, Vernal Lister, and a host of other friends and relatives.
