Ms. Eva Johnson

Mrs. Eva Gaines Johnson is the daughter of the late Will Gaines and Girtie Royal Gaines. She was born July 13, 1925 in Mabank, Texas. She received her former education in the Mabank School System. On April 19, 1947 she married the love of her life. A handsome young man from Marietta, Texas, Mr. Thelmon Johnson. She made Marietta her home. She was a humble and obedient wife. They were the proud parents of four children.
Miss Eva was a gentle and graceful lady and worked as a gifted seamstress. She was a source of encouragement to everyone she met. After moving to Marietta, she united with the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. She had a passion for her church. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, Vice President of Unity District Women Association, and President of the Mission Auxiliary at her home church Bethlehem for a number of years. She had a zeal for teaching young women.
Miss Eva was a very tender hearted, gentle, loving, generous and strong spirited woman with a great will to serve. Her family was number one in her life. She always thought of others before herself. She did not mind sharing and she baked the best pound cake in the community.
Miss Eva worked as a seamstress for Nardis of Dallas for many years and retired from the Red River Army Depot where she worked as a shipping clerk.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thelmon Johnson her husband, Charles Melvin Johnson her son, 6 brothers and 3 sisters.
She leaves to cherish her memories, 3 daughters; Thelma Lee and Alvin Mergerson, Vickey LaJune and Calvin Lester, and Dr. Pearlie Mae Johnson.  4 grandsons; Kendrick, Terrance, Demetrius and Calvin Anthony. 3 granddaughters; Angela, April and Sara Elizabeth and 3 great granddaughters; Anissa, Rebekah and Taylor. Her brother Jesse Gaines and Betty. A host of nieces and nephews and cousins.
