Evelena Powell was born on February 3, 1922, in Washington, TX, to the late Frank and Elizabeth Williams.
She is preceded in death by three brothers, seven sisters, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
She was saved at the age of thirteen on the way home from a revival.
She married the late C. J. Brown; to this union five children were born, Carol Brown, Carolyn Turner, Geraldine Williams, Pearline Brown, and Annie Johnson.
Missionary Powell loved her family and talking about the Lord.
She leaves to cherish her memories: five children; 1 special son-in-law, Saul Johnson; eighteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four stepchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
Her spiritual journey included being First Lady of True Light Chapel Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Superintendent A.B. Powell. Her latest commitment was to Greater Fellowship Community COGIC, in Dallas, Texas Superintendent Norris Wayne Booth, and Miracle House of Prayer under Pastor Lois and Bishop Lorenzo Coleman of Houston, Texas, Greater Fellowship Community COGIC.
