Rev. Felix Driver, Jr. was born on March 19, 1938 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to
Felix Driver, Sr. and Sylvia Lee Driver. He was the oldest of three boys and two
girls: Callie, Richard, Josephine and Almeta. At the age of 13, he moved to New
York City to live with relatives. In 1955, he graduated summa cum laude from
Lincoln High School at the age of 17.
In September of 1955, Felix entered into the United States Air Force and served
for over 9 years from 1955 - 1965. Upon an honorably discharge in 1965, he
returned to New York to begin his adult life.
In 1976, through a mutual friend, Felix met the love of his life, Trudy. On June 24,
1977, Felix and Trudy united in life together. Felix welcomed with open arms 5
children: Patricia, Elaine, Cynthia, Rev. Frank Brown and Lisa. To this union,
they welcomed into their lives a baby girl named Phelyxia.
Employed by Caltex, Felix relocated his family to Carrollton, Texas in 1982. During
his professional career, he also worked for the City of Dallas, EDS, DPS, LISD
and the City of Carrollton. In 1989, Felix rededicated his life to Christ and served
diligently in several capacities at Friendship Baptist Church. During his service
there, he received his call to the ministry. He faithfully completed his call and
service at Bent Tree Church until his health would no longer allow.
On November 4, 2013 at 10:32 p.m. at the age of 75, Felix went on to be with the
Lord. Preceding him in death was his father, Felix Driver, Sr.; mother, Sylvia Lee
Driver and sister, Josephine ?Mama Jo? Echols.
He is survived by his wife, Trudy Driver; children: Patricia Foster, Elaine Fininen,
Cynthia Matthews, Rev. Frank Brown (Carla), Lisa Brown and Phelyxia R. Driver;
siblings: Callie Driver (Callie Mae) of Oklahoma, Richard Driver (Charlotte) of New
York and sister, Almeta Milow (Roy) of Michigan. He leaves a legacy of 6 nephews,
4 nieces, 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
