Obituary of Flossie Lee Moore
Flossie Lee Moore was born in Henderson, TX on December 17, 1942 to Lerline Lacy Jones and Floyd Euins. Flossie was the eldest of five children and moved to Dallas with her family as a child. Flossie graduated from James Madison High School in Dallas and earned an Associate’s Degree from Mountain View College in 1981.
Flossie met and married Robert Smith in 1960. Flossie was blessed with three children that she loved with all her heart – a daughter, Shirley; and two sons, Bennie and Alton. Flossie was a strong advocate for education. She ensured all of her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren graduated from high school and attended college, if they desired.
Flossie’s exceptional eye for detail served her well as a Quality Control Inspector Manager for Texas Instruments, where she worked for 32 years until her retirement. Flossie ensured her colleagues were thoroughly knowledgeable of their profession. In addition to her analytical skills, Flossie was very creative. She was an avid gardener and amazing carpenter. Her garden and yard were always pristine, and she built her home’s outdoor deck that provided a spectacular view of her neighborhood.
Flossie made a lasting impact of the lives of all who knew her. She was a loving and devoted mother, and a generous person who encouraged others to realize their potential. She will be greatly missed.
Flossie was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Euins; mother, Lerline Lacy Jones; sister, Darlene Harris; and brother, Floyd Euins, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Smith-Hawkins (Wendell); sons, Bennie Smith and Alton Smith (Regina). She was greatly loved by her eight grandchildren: Quiana Robinson (Dedrek), Kybron Hawkins (Koranda), LaKeshia Avery, LaKendra Avery, LaDarius Smith, Joshua Sims, Jonathan Sanders, and Bryant Smith; twelve great grandchildren; her sister, Ella Ray Euins; and brother, Amos L. Euins; and many relatives and friends.
