OBITUARY
Fred Douglas Vaughn was born January 6,1941 to Lottie D.
and Willie H. Vaughn in Oakwood, Texas. Fred graduated to
glory on August 20,2013.
He was the third of four children, George Washington, Willie Jean
and Patricia Ann. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High
School. In Fred's lifetime, he was a merchant marine, the first
black mechanic at Lone Star Cadillac, ran many political campaigns,
was the first black man to own a scrap yard in Dallas and received
the Keystone Award.
Fred was a deacon at Main Street Church of Christ, and strived to
live his life following in God's footsteps. Fred was a prayer warrior
with the real talent to put voice to the unspoken prayers of the
congregation in a spiritual and eloquent way. Fred was an advocate
for both teens and the homeless at his church on Main Street. Fred
loved and nurtured many, many young people.
Fred leaves behind his wife Stephanie; his sister, Patricia Moore;
children and grandchildren, Vickie Renee Vaughn and her sons,
Courtney & Corey; Reginald Wayne Vaughn and his sons, Reginald,
Jr. and Joshua; Fredrick Douglas Vaughn, Jr., Anthony Douglas
Dill Vaughn and J aida Elizabeth Vaughn and a host of nephews and
nieces.
He is preceded in death by his brother, George Washington Vaughn;
his sister; Willie Jean Harper, and his parents, Lottie D. and Willie
H.Vaughn.
