Treasures of Life Gladys Estell Sowels was born on September 4, 1935, in DeBerry, Texas, to Alvin Hall Sr and Mary Johnson-Hall. She was the oldest of four children. She was educated in the Panola County School system. On April 22, 1955, she was joined in marriage with Plymer Gene Sowels and to this union they had five children. Gladys accepted Christ at a young age and was a faithful member of True Vine Missionary Baptist Church under the late Rev. C.L. Raye. She served as choir president and Missionary society. She worked as a domestic housekeeper for several years. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, husband Plymer Gene Sowels, son Larry Gene Sowels and brother Samuel Hall. She leaves to cherish and carry her legacy and memories: brother, Alvin Hall Jr. (Earlene); sister Ernestine Beck; her only daughter, Anita Baker; three sons, Vincent Sowels (Lea), Rickey Sowels, and Vernon Sowels; seven grandchildren, Lavonia Baker-Smith (Tyrone), Fairy Baker, Rasheen Sowels, Kimberly Dickson, Brittany Dickson, Khandi Sowels, and Jelisa Sowels; 13 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
