Gussie Faye was born to S.B. & Pearl Johnson Wallace in the community of
Bethlehem (Gilmer TX.). She was the seventh of ten children. She attended Bethlehem
Elementary School and graduated from the Valley View High School (Gilmer TX) where
she was Valedictorian. She attended and graduated Bishop College (Marshall, TX).
She accepted Christ at an early age where she joined Community of Bethlehem
Church (Gilmer, TX). She later met and married John B. Davis and moved to Dallas. To
this union four children were born. She joined and served at True Lee Missionary Baptist
Church under the pastorage of the late R.L. Parish Sr., where she was baptized in the
Wahoo Lake. She later joined Good Street Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late
C.A.W. Clark. She worked with the Mission serving as the pianist opening Mission
services. She also enthusiastically served on the Hospitality Committee for funerals.
Gussie Faye loved playing the piano, buying/designing hats, sewing/designing her
clothes and often referred to herself as a Fashionesta. She loved working in her yard
sometimes for hours. She believed that a person's yard helped represent the
neighborhood. Lastly she loved boasting of her 5 generations.
She was precede in death by 2 children, Johnnie Wayne and Betty Jean Davis. Her
parents, 5 brothers; Luther, York, Eddie, John, Spencer Wallace, 1 Sister Jessie Mae
Carlisle, Great-grand-daughter Precious Skies & great-great granddaughter Camora Davis
and grandson Rodney Davis.
She leaves behind 2 sons, Charles E. Davis (Joyce) League City, TX and Tommy J.
Davis, Irving, TX. 1 daughter, Marilynn Davis, Rowlett, TX. 3 sisters; Dr. Pearlia Mae
Derrick (Johnnie B) Tyler TX, Willie Mae Fagan, Ft Worth TX, & Rev. Dora Lee Jones, Dallas,
TX. Grandchildren: Melody Cunningham (Stephen), LaDecha Robinson (Kenneth), Tamija
Turner (Tayonia), Tangulia Davis, DeShanna Davis, Freddie Clark, Joe Samuel II, John Eric
Davis, Charles Brooks, Rhonda Davis, Nathaniel Davis, Becky Davis, Bryana Daniels,
Derrick Daniels and Brandon Davis. Great Grandchildren: Stephen Davis, Justin Davis,
Cameron Davis, Eboni Davis, Victor North Jr., Tamija Turner Jr, Takyriin Turner, Takyron,
Turner, Taja Turner, Exzavier Davis, Tann'e laShann Davis, Brittani Kyana Heard, De'Marcus
Davis, Aldrica Mitchem, Jamorrison Daniels, Chaunice Jackson, Christopher Daniels, Paul
Davis, Joseph Samuell III, Syncere Samuel, Janae Clark, Christian Davis, Charleigh Davis,
Kristopher Dotson, Sr., Johnston Davis, Jonathan Pearson, Joshua Davis, Kyndall Davis,
Javon Davis and Spencer Cunningham. Great-Great Grandchildren: Cameron Davis Jr,
Layla Davis, KyMarion Henderson, Caden Cockhren, Thomas W. Ankoye Jr. Queen Ankoye,
Keldrick Dotson, Marley Daniels, Miryah Willis, Maison Wright, Amari Jackson, Delmarcus
Hargrove Jr. Emani Ayana Davis. Kristopher Dotson Jr., 'Christian Pearson, Kai Davis. And
many, many other nieces, nephews' cousins and close friends. Special Friends: Vivian
Bolden, Claria Morgan, Johnnie Mae Walton & Verna McKenzie.
