O n June 6, 2021 at the age of 100 Mrs. Idell Cephus Gladney received her heavenly wings. She was a well-respected pillar of her community and in our family until her death. Her legacy will live forever!
Idell Cephus Gladney was born May 25, 1921 in Rice,Texas to the parentage of the late Fannie Colston Cephus and Odie Cephus. She was the oldest of 2 siblings. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband George Gladney; her sister Magalene Cephus; and her son John L. Green.
She received her education in Rice School District confessing Christ at an early age. For years she worked as a domestic engineer. She also was a fulltime caregiver and babysitter for her grandchildren. She always spoke fondly of the countless memories and experiences there as a child and worked diligently to ensure that it continues to be an intricate part of her legacy.
She married the late Alvin Green, Sr. and to the union four sons were born. She later met and married George Gladney who preceded her in death. To their union one son was born.
She is survived by: Sons – Alvin Green, Sr. (Maria), Willie J. Green, Sr. (Bennie), Joe Green and Kenneth George Gladney; 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Idell was blessed with a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who remain to reunite with her.
