Irmie Lacy

Mrs. Irmie Jean Caroll (“Ms. I”) was born May 27, 1939 to the parentage of the late Kirvin and Mildred Caroll in Tehuacana, Texas.  She graduated from Dunbar High School in Mexia and attended Antioch Baptist Church.

In 1958 Irmie met the love of her life, David James Lacy Sr., to whom she was happily married until his death in 1977, She worked for Texas Instruments for thirty-one years before retirement and falling into failing health. She was a faithful member of the Dunbar Alumni Association, and her hobbies included dancing, bowling, bingo and playing dominoes.

Irmie is survived by daughters Debra Jeannece Lacy-Walters (Kennie), Shirley Jyla Lacy-Kuykendall (Jasper), sons David James Lacy Jr., Vincent Raynard Lacy and Patrick Drew Lacy.  Sons Darry Lacy and Byron Keith Lacy preceded her in death.  She is also survived by her sister Blanche Ferrell and brothers Kirvin Caroll Jr. and Ennis Carroll.  Her parents and sisters Patricia Bell and Earsline Carroll Nemons preceded her in death.  Lastly, Irmie by God’s grace also leaves to honor her life nineteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
