James Lawton was born to Curtis and Casaine Lawton on July 10, 1929 in Corsicana, Texas and grew up in Pittsburg, Texas where he graduated from Douglas High School, then went on to serve our country in the U.S. Army and receive an honorable discharge in 1949.
James relocated to Los Angeles, CA where he was a mail carrier for the United Postal Office for thirty-two years. There he united in marriage to Harriette Gray on January 24, 1977. To this union three children were born.
After retirement, James moved to Mesquite, Texas in 1991, where he enjoyed raising his grandson Jamaine Pierre, fishing and hunting.
James Lawton knew the Lord and cherish his time on earth believing one day the Lord would bring him home to live with Him but until then, he never met a stranger making everyone feel special. He loved his neighbors as himself and gave freely to his friends.
James leaves to cherish memories, loving wife Harriette Ericka Lawton (Houston, TX) daughter, Reannette Goodman (Nate) (Anaheim, CA), daughter Jeanette Braswell (James) (Inglewood, CA), daughter, Prior to his union with Hariette, James has two sons, James Lawton Jr. and Levert Johnson; (mother in-law) Rebbecca Brown and host of grandkids - Jamaine, Justin, Nathan, Jada, Davina, Lonnie, and Cory. James also leaves a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives, extended family and special friends.
