James Loftis was born to the parentage of Curtis Loftis and Virgie (Payne) Loftis on September 13, 1931 in Calvert, Texas. They both preceded him in death.
James received his education in Falls County School District at Booker T. Washington high School in Marlin, Texas. He remained an active Booker T. Washington Dallas Chapter alumni member.
James put the Lord on in Baptism in the early 60's at Fourth Avenue Church of Christ. he later moved his membership to university Church of Christ in Dallas. He was a current member of the Pemberton Hill Church of Christ where he was a faithful member until his death. James had his own unique style of singing. he loved to sing and used every opportunity to share his gift.
James met the love of his life, Ada Loftis (Davis), and they were united in holy matrimony on June 27,1962. To this union God blessed them with children.
James provided for his family as a truck driver for over 30 years. he retired from Wal-Mart Corporation. After retirement, he spent quality time at the Martin Luther King Senior Center where he was privileged to meet many new friends. James was a wiz at playing dominoes. He claimed he was the reigning domino champion at the Senior Center. There were very few people who can claim to be competition to him.
James loved to dress up. He was known to many as "Mr. Clean." You would never see him without a hat. He had a hat to match every shirt, a shirt to match every suit, and a suit to match every shoe.
James had five brothers: Curtis II, Matron, Alvin, Luch, and Melvin and five sisters: Curthine, Theola, Lillie Mae, Ruby, and Earline who all preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish in loving memory his children: Marye Jackson (James), Sandra Kay Davis (James), Revis Ray Loftis, Donald Ray Loftis (Stephanie), Barbara Jean Jackson (Michael), Rita Jones (Keith), and Virgie Barnett (Steven), many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
