On Wednesday, February 19, 2014, a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, departed this earth.
Jesse Jackson was born December 14,
1939 in West Monroe, Louisiana to Isabelle Jackson and the late Ira Jackson, Sr.
Jesse was educated in the school system of West Monroe and lived there until joining and honorably serving in the U.S. Navy.
He graduated from Laney College in Oakland, California with an associate?s degree in electronics.
His first marriage was to the late Maggie Dell Jackson. There were three children to this union: Gregory, Denise and Jamal.
Jesse?s second marriage of 33 years was to Ethel Jewel Jackson. With this union a family of six was formed.
He worked and retired from the General Motors Company. He then worked and retired from New United Motor Manufacturing Inc.
Jesse was very honest, strong and possessed a moral compass that was one of a kind. He was caring and had compassion for others
throughout his life. He loved to have meaningful conversations with others and enjoyed sharing his ideas and thoughts. He had a huge smile and an even bigger laugh, especially when he told his jokes!
Jesse is preceded in death by Ira Jackson (father), Maggie Dell Jackson (first wife), Jamal Jackson (son), Jamal Jackson Jr. (grand-son), brothers, Ira Jackson, Jr., Wilbert Jackson, Kenneth Jackson and one sister, Margaret Jackson.
His memories will be cherished by his loving wife, Ethel Jackson; mother, Isabelle Jackson; three children, Gregory Jackson (Dian) of Plano, Texas, Denise Woods (Alphonso) of Chesapeake, VA, Keith Humphrey (Arliana) of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Reginald Riley, Teela Boatman (Stanton), Nicholas Jackson, Armiya Humphrey, Heather Woods, Alden Woods, Samantha Jackson and Karlin Humphrey and great granddaughter, Naziya Riley.
Jesse will also be cherished by one brother, Elder Andrew Jackson (Lucy) of West Monroe, Louisiana and one sister, Dorothy Wiley of West Monroe, Louisana; aunt, Adel Chaisson; uncle, Eddie Taylor; and
a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
