His Beginning
Brother Joe Polk was born January 23, 1940, in Leona, Texas to the late Reverend Rozell E. Polk and Susie L. Donaldson Polk. He was the seventh child born to this union.
Marriage
Joe Anderson Polk met his soul mate, the late Laveta Catherine Brown fifty nine years ago in the seventh grade. On February 2, 1963 they were united in Holy Matrimony. To this union three daughters were born.
Education/Career
Joe graduated from Fouke-Hawkins Colored High School in 1958. He joined the United States Army in 1958 and received an Honorable Discharge in May 1964. He obtained a certification in electronics and a certificate of autopsy authorization from Mountain View College. He also obtained his barber license from Graham's Barber School. Joe work and retired from GTE Automatic Electric after many years of service. In addition he retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs in January 2003 after twenty one years of service. While employed with GTE and Department of Veterans Affairs he received recognition and various awards for his outstanding job performance.
Affiliations
Joe joined Bethlehem United Methodist Church, in Hawkins, Texas under the Pastoral Leadership of his father Reverend Rozell E. Polk. He remained a faithful supporter of the church until his death. Joe recognized he needed more spiritually in his life. Realizing this he let God into his life so he would be prepared to meet him in paradise. He adopted Full Gospel Tabernacle N.T.C., Inc. as his church home. He adored Pastor Darick L. Favors Sr. and was always touched by his anointed style of preaching. In his hospital room he learned to become a true worshipper who worshiped God in spirit and in truth, even when he was in pain. Joe was a great man of wisdom who was loved by numerous of people. He passionately touched the lives of many, with his encouraging words.
Preceding him in death were his Mother Susie L. Donaldson Polk, Father Reverend Rozell E. Polk, one sister his beloved tudder Pastor Fessona Mosley, one brother his beloved bubba Robert S. Polk, two grandsons Marcus Coleman and Marquin Polk Coleman.
His Legacy

Mechanicsburg, PA, Laquita Gilbert, Shannon Adams, Brandon Jordan, Tishina Jordan, Jeremy Coleman, Brittany Jordan, Kyera Coleman, LaDarian Coleman, Nyla Coleman, Ijenari Coleman, and Monte Jordan (Zainab) ? Dallas, TX; two extended grandchildren Jesslyn Cathey and Christopher Hanspard; ten great grandchildren Lonnese Murray, Imari Polk, Londrea Murray, Cenaa Polk, Ja'La Shedwick, Allan Gilbert, Jr., Cedric Polk, Jr., Madison Adams, Kimoni Jordan, Samaria Jordan, and Naimah Jordan; one brother Luther Polk (Evelyn), five sisters Missionary Virginia Hayden, Minister Dorothy Greer, - Dallas, TX, Missionary Annie P. Walker, ? Shreveport, LA.; Deaconess Lisse Latson - Ft. Worth, TX, extended sister his niece Shirley Mosley, Dallas, TX, four sister in laws Dr. Nita Faye Moorehead ? Dallas, TX; Narita Hyter, ? Tyler, TX, Jeweline Truitt(Hillard) Ft. Worth TX, Mattie McClure(Boyd) and one brother in law Walter Ray Brown ? Tyler, TX.; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.
His Transition
Joe believed God was into the ?SMALL THINGS?, as well as ?BIG THINGS?. He knew God was preparing him to go through a ?BIG EVENT?. He went through this ?BIG EVENT? with much FAITH! He was a NO LIMIT SOLIDER who fought a ?GOOD FIGHT? on Tuesday July 24,2012, Brother Polk departed this life resting in great peace and moved from this earthly body to heavenly reward where he is resting in God.
