On Wednesday, October 18th 2017, the sun set on the life of 79 year old Johnnie Alvin Smith. Johnnie was born on September 30th 1938 in Tyler, Texas to Juanita Ferguson and Johnnie James Smith.
Johnnie accepted Christ and joined St. Louis Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas. When he moved to Dallas, he joined South Dallas Baptist Church under the direction of Rev.Earnest Freeney . Johnnie worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for Samuel High School and Skyline High School in Dallas. He was a great brother and uncle, an undeniably very loving and caring person. As a child, Johnnie had a passion for motorcycles and could hardly wait until he could get one of his own. As soon as he was able, he did just that. He grew up on a farm/ranch and had a deep love and compassion for animals of all kinds. His favorite, was his puppy “Trey”.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James L. Smith
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving sister, Minnie Smith Evans and husband Alonzo R Evans; nephews, Johnny Isaiah Evans and Alonzo Jeremiah Evans; aunt, Aileen Smith of Fort Worth
