Katie Scott

April 6, 1940 — September 3, 2015

Katie Beatrice Scott was born April 6, 1940 in Delhi, Louisiana to the parentage of Elijah and Gerthia Mae Martin, whom preceded her in death.

She professed her faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Brownville Baptist Church in Columbia, Louisiana under the leadership of Rev. C.H. Reed. After relocating to Texas and until her health fell, she was a faithful member of Stronghold Baptist Church under Rev. Hal Johnson.

Katie married Daniel J. Scott in 1958 and joyously celebrated with this union was 6 wonderful children, Rhonda Crawford, Debra Thompson (Tony); Beverly Blair (Roland); Daniel Scott Jr. (Cheryl); Danetta Roe and Abra Curry (Kent).

She was educated in the Louisiana School District and was a 1958 graduate of Union Central High School. Katie was a hard worker and worked in the entertainment business for the late Johnny Taylor for 20 plus years. Katie trusted in the Lord with all her heart and soul. She was a faithful servant of the Lord. Katie was a loving caregiver who owned and operated her own daycare.

Katie was preceded in death by her two brothers:  Robert and Charles Martin and one grandson, Byron Scott.

She leaves to cherish her memory 6 beautiful children, 10 grandchildren: Ronnie Scott (Kisha), Donald “Eric” Ballard, Michael Crawford, Brittany Thompson, Janetta “Nikkie” Roe, Chasity Thompson, Jasmine Jefferson and Kisha, JaKira and Jalen Scott; 5 lovely sister: Katie Lee Williams (Katie’s twin sis), Betty Robinson, Dexter Moffit, Crystal “Gayle” Williams and Marilyn Gulley, 12 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; special friends: Ms. Joyce, Ms. Dorothy and Ms. Jean and a host of relatives and friends.
