L.D. Mackey, Sr. affectionately known as "Rip" by his family and friends, was born in Grandall, Texas on January 3, 1922 to the parentage of Willis and Elnora Mackey (whom preceded him in death).
He served as a Private in the United States Army during World War 2, and was honorably discharged on July 15, 1946. During his tours of service, "Rip" was awarded the European -African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four bronze stars and a Good Conduct Medal. Shortly after being discharged he became employed as the Facilities Engineer for Oddo Investments, where he worked for 50 years before retirement. He was given God's gift of marriage to Annell (Carraway) Mackey for a lifetime of love and happiness on April 26, 1958. Their union was blessed with five children.
Later in life, "Rip" served faithfully as a Deacon at Faith Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C. (Seagoville, Tx) before answering the Lord's call into ministry to preach the word of God. He was a loving and faithful member of Eastside C.O.G.I.C., where he served as an Elder until God called him home.
L.D. Mackey, Sr. was also preceded in death by his siblings, and son L.D. Mackey, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories: His wife of 57 years, Annell; children, Patricia Moseley (Willis), Kenneth Mackey (Sally), Renice Davis (Bobby), Sandra Davis (Kenneth), and Darryl Mackey (Tvinia); 17 Grandchildren; and host of Great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends
