Proverbs 31:10-31
"Who can find a virtuous woman? For her worth is far above rubies".....

Lennes Page Smith was the fourth child of twelve born to Charlie Page and Elizabeth
"Lizzie" White in Waskom, Texas. She received her education in Harris County and accepted
Christ at an early age. Lennes is preceded in death by her parents, husband and eight siblings.

Lennes met and married James Smith in August of 1945. Although no children were born to
this union, she helped in raising her nieces and nephews. Lennes and James left Texas
and moved to Oakland, California where they resided and united with St. John Missionary
Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Carl J. Anderson where she served
faithfully.  After building and being blessed with a successful business in construction work,
Lennes and her husband decided to leave the city and move to the country, Oakdale, California where they started a ranch. They purchased a considerable amount of acreage and raised livestock, poultry, along with growing fruit orchards and vegetable gardens.  She loved and enjoyed this life-style. Lennes loved cooking and sharing her food with friends and family.

Lennes and James had a desire to be around family in Texas, so they moved back and
took residence in Terrell, Texas. There, they retired from raising cows, pigs, chickens, geese and
other ranching activities. While in Terrell they united-with one of the churches in the community.
After the death of her husband, Lennes moved to Dallas and united with Christ Memorial Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until she became disabled.

Lennes was always a joy to be around. She had an unconditional love for her family and
others. She had a love for Christ that was also demonstrated to others. Lennes had a very
humble and giving spirit. No matter what you did for her, she would always respond, "Thank
you very much, I really appreciate it." She had a laugh that was infectious. It would make the
saddest face laugh.

Lennes will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. We thank God for letting her be part of our lives and living the Christian walk for ninety-four years.

Lennes leaves to cherish her memories, three sisters, Addie Moore, Arlene Alexander,
Dorothy Busby, all from Dallas, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and
friends. We say to you as you have said to us many times, "Thank you very much.”

Laugh on, Aunt Lennes, Laugh on! Your're now in a better place!
