Linda Mathews

Linda Joyce Mathews, 70, of Dallas, Texas passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. She was born December 21, 1949 to Almeta Spencer and Erma Neal Easley in Gilmer, Texas. Linda graduated from Franklin D. Roosevelt High School, Dallas, Texas in 1968, and later that year married Gerald W. Matthews Sr. From this union the couple was blessed with 3 children.

Linda is preceded in death by her daughter, Tina L. Mathews, her mother Almeta McIntyre, and brother Charles L. Skief. Linda is survived by her two sons, Gerald W. Mathews, Jr. (Lilana) & Roderick L. Mathews (Patricia); 2 sisters: Doris Anderson and Tammy Hall; 3 brothers: Tony Easley, Clemmie Skief, and James Skief; 9 grandchildren, Gerald W. Mathews III, Aaron Alexander Jr., Jalen Mathews, Kresha Rogers, Titanna D. Mathews, LaDarius D. Mathews, LaKenya T. Mathews, Jasmine L. Williams and Kaya S. Mathews; 14+ great-grandchildren.

Linda was a loyal employee of Texas Instruments for over 25 years. She remained an active member of Oak Cliff Presbyterian Church until the day of her passing. Linda was known to close family members as "Bitsy" and others simply called her "Granny Linda/Grandmama Linda". Bitsy never met a stranger and would open her door to anyone in need. She loved working with children which led her to become a pre-school teacher for many years. Granny Linda left a lasting impression on every child she met. Some of her favorite hobbies included traveling, reading and showing off her authentic culinary skills.
