Louise Smith Howard was born to the late Shedrick and Lucille Smith, Jr. on December 28, 1935 in Helena, AR. Louise attended Northend Elementary School and Eliza Miller High School. She was united in marriage to the late Frank T. Howard Sr. on October 17, 1954. This union produced five children.
Louise accepted Jesus Christ at a young age at Point Missionary Baptist Church in Helena, AR under the leadership of Rev. Mose Debro. Louise was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church under the current leadership of Rev. N. L. Robinson and Senior Pastor, Rev. J.P. Thompson, Jr.
In the 1960's, Louise worked at the Headstart school in Hughes, Arkansas as a Teacher's Assistant. She also worked at Mildred L. Jackson Elementary (Hughes, AR)as a cook. Louise and her family moved to West Memphis, Arkansas in 1976 where she worked at Crittendon Memorial Hospital as the head cook until she moved to Dallas, Texas in 1986 where she worked at Cooper Aerobics as a nutritionist cook. She attempted to retire in 1996 but the customers missed Louise's great cooking. After returning to Cooper Aerobics and working for another 3 years, Louise retired in 2000.
On November 25th the angel of silence entered into her life with family present at Baylor of Garland. Louise was preceded in death by her daughter, Rita Howard; parents, Shedrick and Lucille Smith, Jr. and brother, Larry Smith.
She leaves to mourn her passing and carry her legacy of love, her loving family; two sons, Frank T. Howard, Jr. (Wheat) of California and Larry Howard (Shane) of Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Bernita Howard and Brenda Howard Carthon of Dallas, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Maurice Fuller, Angela Howard, Shannon Howard, Latoya Howard, Frank T. Howard, III (Trey), Tisa Howard, Melody Carton, Sheena Ousley, Casheena Carthon and Brianna Carthon; 9 great grandchildren, Dameyon Howard, B.J. Howard, Kamari Black, Eyan Lewis, Ethyn Lewis, Randy Ransom, III, Jassiyah Howard, Erynn Lewis, Eden Howard; 5 sisters, Velma Larkin of Oneida, AR, Bernice Thomas of Memphis, TN, Ethel Veasey and Josephine (Charley) Hunter of Chicago,IL, Mary Evans (Earl)of St. Louis, MO; 5 brothers, Shedrick (Christine) Smith of Popular, Grove, AR, Silvester (Alfreda) Smith of St. Louis, MO, Monroe Smith (Pearl) of Lexa, AR; James Smith of Popular Grove, and Dennis (Ceclia) Smith of Cedar Hill, TX. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
