Lucille Harris Thomas
“To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven: a

Lucille Harris Thomas was the third child born to Mr. Lee Harris and Miss
Almeida Portes in Bellville, Austin County, Texas on November 26, 1933.
When I was a child, I spake like a child…" I Cor. 13: 11
Lucille attended Bellville High School and she accepted Christ at an early age.
“…but I became a (wo)man, I put away childish things." I Cor. 13:11
Lucille married Hawley Ray Jr. in 1954 and relocated to Waco, Tx and to that
union they were blessed with two children ~ Winford Earl Ray and Helen Denise
Ray. She relocated to Dallas, Texas and the first thing she did was find a church
home at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas under the Leadership
of the late Pastor Alfred Thomas.
“I must work the works of him who sent me while it is day for when night
cometh no one can work…" John 9:4
Lucille had a passion for sewing and loved to play the piano and listen to
music. Her favorite Scripture was "Psalms 51" and favorite song was "I Don't Know
Why I Have To Cry Sometimes." She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star.

Lucille entered into her eternal resting place on September 17, 2014. She was
preceded in death by her parents Lee Harris and Almeida Portes. Her siblings Mrs.
Eva L Black, Mrs. Tommie Hill, Ms. Ruby L. Harris, Mr. Johnnie L. Harris, and Mr.
Clarence L Harris. Her one and only son Winford Earl Ray.

Mrs. Lucille Thomas leaves to cherish her memories: husband of 36 years ~
Andy Thomas; one sister ~ Mrs. Bernice Corner of Bellville, Texas; loving daughter
~ Helen Clewis; four grandchildren ~ Carlida Clewis, Raynard Clewis, Avis Clewis,
and Patrick W. Clewis; 5 great-grandchildren ~ A'nyah, Marcus, Darius, Cash and
J'via; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family members and friends that were dear to her.
