Mary D. Wheeler Thomas was born October 23, 1932 to Ruby and Odell Wenze in Dallas, TX both have preceded her in death. Mary received her formal education through the Dallas Independent School District, where she attended Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Mary was a lifetime member of True Lee Missionary Baptist Church, where she loved serving as supervisor for the YPIC Choir. She was a stylist for over 50 years also owner and operator of Mary’s Hair Design for 36 years. Mary won numerous hairstyling awards and was named Cosmetologist of the year on numerous occasions. She served in many beauty organizations, most notably NBCL Texas State Association & Beauty Cultrist League, Progressive Beau Monde League and United Professionals. Her travels always kept her on the cutting edge of whatever was trending. In the year 2000 Mary retired from her life’s passion due to health issues. This allowed her more time to enjoy her favorite pastimes which were listening to Beyonce’, watching pageants and gameshows. Mary Thomas surrender her earthly life to the Master’s call on September 16, 2016.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories and mourn her passing daughter, Renea Wheeler; sons, Ronald Wheeler (Linda) and Casey Thomas II (LaKisha); Eight grandchildren; Six great-grandchildren; Mary Girl’s, Gloria Treasa, Sandra, Connie, Katina, Felicia and Tharia; and a host of cousins and friends who loved her dearly.
