Melroy Ballard was born in Doyline, Louisiana on September 30, 1938, to the late Edward and Mattie Ballard. He graduated from G.W. Griffin High School in Lake Providence, Louisiana and moved to Dallas, Texas where he worked for Robert R. Mitchell Dress Company.
In 1962, Melroy was drafted into the United States Army and severed honorably for two years as a supply clerk. After being discharged from the Army, he worked at General Motors. While working for General Motors, he began his own landscaping and real estate businesses.
Melroy was united in Holy Matrimony to Priscilla Blount December 22, 1960. To that union, they had three children.
Melroy accepted Christ at an early age and served as an usher for several years. He is a member of Greater Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church.
Melroy was the oldest of thirteen children. His sister Betty Hunt and brother Patrick Ballard preceded him in death.
Melroy departed his earthly life on March 20, 2018.
Melroy Ballard leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Priscilla Ballard; three sons, Darren Ballard (Georgette), Derrick Ballard, and Denard Ballard (Shanadra); five grandchildren, DeMarcus Ballard, Kiarra Shofner, Jada Ballard, Dayonna Ballard, and Darionna Ballard; two great-granddaughters, Sydney Ballard and Londyn Brown; two brothers, James Ballard (Maxine) and Will Ballard; eight sisters, Josephine Garrett (Vernon), Aggie Ross, Carrie Thomas (Rev. Dwight), Pearlie Shaw, Alice Warren, Annie Jackson, Lillie Horton, and Brenda Ballard; aunts, uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
