After a valiant battle against cancer, on June 7, 2012, Michael Anthony ?Mickey? Garee of Rockwall, Texas, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Dallas, Texas on January 4, 1947, to Floyd E. Garee and Bobbie Jean McCarter. On January 8, 1983, he married the love of his life, Georgia Brown ?Brownie? Ross Garee. After graduating from W.W. Samuell High School in 1965, serving in the United States Air Force, and retiring as a sales rep for Julius Schepps/Republic Beverage, Mickey enjoyed helping Brownie at her company, Rockwall Printing, and various charity work with Kiwanis.
Mickey lived life to the fullest and loved spending time with family & friends, bowling, boating, golf, poker (Vidiot), motorcycles and watching old westerns. Memories of Mickey will be cherished by his loving wife of 30 years, Brownie (?Shadow?), his children, Joshua (Meagan) and Courtney (Jeremy), his grandchildren Laney, Declan and Ever, his Aunt Mary Nell and numerous relatives and close friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, step father Richard ?Dick? Wilbur, and sister, Sherrie Garee.
A charity has been set up to honor Mickey?s memory and to fulfill his wish to help children with cancer and their families. Donations may be made to Kiwanis Club of Rockwall County, P.O. Box 903, Rockwall, TX 75087. Make checks payable to Kiwanis and reference ?Mickey Garee Children?s Cancer Fund.?
