SGT. Michael D. Duffey was born April 5th, 1978 in Dallas, Texas. He enlisted in the United State Army on August 5th 1997 as a Culinary Specialist and attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Next he attended Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Lee, Virginia, where he completed his Culinary Specialist Training. On April 1st, 2003 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
After completing AIT, SGT. Duffey served at Fort Hood , TX, Camp Carroll, Korea, and Schofield Barracks, HI. He has served three combat tours totaling 33 months. - 24 months in support of OPERATION IRAGI FREEDOM and 9 months in support of OOPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. He concluded his military service on May 16th, 2016 as a Culinary Noncommissioned Officer with the Forward Support Company, 2D Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2D Division Artillery. His responsibilities included field feeding support to 600 Soldiers in the Battalion.
His awards included the Purple Heart Medal, Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (7 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (5), Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (2), North Atlantic Treaty Organization medal, and the Combat Action Badge.
SGT. Duffey is survived by his younger brother CW2 Samuel Duffey (Air Defense) and grandmother Ms. Reva Morris.
