Pastor Michael Perkins

November 15, 1955 — April 1, 2025

Dallas

Michael Perkins was born on November 15, 1955, to the late Ruth and Elton Perkins in Dallas, Texas. He grew up in West Dallas, where he attended Dallas Public Schools and began to shape his passion for life and work. From a young age, Michael developed a deep love for cleaning and pressing clothes, a craft that would stay with him throughout his life. His work wasn’t just a job—it was a calling. He took great pride in providing excellent service, treating each customer with kindness and respect, and finding joy in making their lives just a little bit easier. Michael always considered himself a servant to others, and his compassion led many to Christ.

Michael’s journey in the dry cleaning industry began at Collins Quality Cleaners, where he worked for many years under the guidance of his Godparents, Mr. and Mrs. Collins. They instilled in him a strong work ethic and taught him the skills that made him one of the best in the business. After their passing, Michael bravely took on the responsibility of running the business for two years, but due to rising costs, he eventually had to close the doors. His perseverance never wavered, and he later went on to work for US Cleaning and Pressing, where he became well-known and respected by his boss, Sean and Latee. His dedication led to a managerial position, and he continued to make an impact on everyone around him.

Michael’s legacy is carried on by his beloved wife, Sherry Kaye Perkins; his daughter, Keisha Perkins of Dallas, TX; his stepchildren, Sharond Reeves Smith (Derrick), and Shameron Kay Turner (Kimberly), all of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by his surviving sister, Helen M. Daniels of Lufkin, TX, along with eight cherished grandchildren: Jasmine Punch, Christian Turner, Reuben Guston, Makayla Turner, Dajon Smith, Donovan Smith, Kase Harris, and Kenron Reeves.

He was preceded in death by three brothers—Willie Lee, Daniel Holland, and Jerry W. Perkins—and three sisters—Carolyn Ann Perkins, Shirley P. O’Neal, and Mary J. Griffin. He leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, cherished by his godmothers, Dorothy Faye Caldwell, Ruby Collins, and Dorothy Hall, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and countless friends who were touched by his kindness and generosity.

Michael’s story is one of hard work, love, and devotion. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy of service, love, and faith remain with us forever.
