Margaret O. Bolts Williams was born on October 8, 1932, in Forney, Texas, to the parentage of R.C. Bolts Sr. and Hettie Gleason Bolts. She had three brothers and one sister. She received her education in the Kaufman, Mesquite, and Dallas school districts. After high school, she worked various jobs in Dallas. In the late 1960s, she began working in the Richardson school district and later spent 15 years working in the Longview school district, from which she eventually retired.
She married Oscar D. Williams Sr., and they were together for over 60 years before he was called home to the Lord. Together, they had seven children: Oscar Williams Jr. (deceased), James Curtis Williams (deceased), Linda West (Willie), Larry Williams Sr., Lois Ivory (deceased), Larnell Williams Sr., and Marvin Ray Williams Sr. (Connie). She was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She also had two loving sisters-in-law, Mary Reed and Zenobia Beck Moreland. She received Christ at an early age and later received the baptism of the Holy Ghost under the leadership of Pastor L.C. Taylor at Wayside COGIC in Rowlett, TX. “Suffer little children to come unto me and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.” — Mark 10:14 (KJV)She served as a Sunday School teacher, a YPWW teacher, and the Sunshine Band president. Her natural ability to nurture her own children extended to the spiritual nurturing of all children. “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” — Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)
She faithfully served alongside her husband as the wife of a pastor or assistant pastor, dedicating 15 years to assisting young pastors of various denominations. She was also a licensed evangelist missionary in the Churches of God in Christ. After returning to Dallas in the 1990s, she and her husband were assigned to the church location at 1512 Oakley Ave., Dallas, TX.
After her husband’s passing and the transitions of different churches at that location, she continued to return there. During a conversation with Mother Sheryl Lee, she learned that Word and Worship Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Supt. Edward L. Pipkin, would be moving to that site. She became a faithful member, serving as co-church mother, and in 2022, after the passing of Mother Marie Pipkin, she was appointed church mother.
She deeply loved her pastor and church family, and they loved her in return.Over the years, she touched many lives with her thoughtfulness and prayers. Whether in the house of the Lord or at home, she could always be found giving God praise. She lived her life demonstrating love and kindness.
Her legacy will never be forgotten.
