Nora Lee Spring

Life Reflections

Nora Lee Watson Spring was born to the parentage of Hardy and Vergie Watson on May 19, 1919 in Marietta, Texas. She became a member of Floyd Valley Baptist Church in Marietta when she was fourteen years old. She also received her education at the Floyd Valley school system

She moved to Dallas, Texas in 1938 and soon thereafter she became a member of the Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. L. R. Lockridge,

She met and married George Bailey Coleman. To this union one lovely son , George Bailey Coleman, Jr was born. Both preceded her in death.

Several years later Nora and Horace Joiner married. There were three step children, Mary Lee James, Mildred Fern and Claude E. Joiner who were reared by their grandmother. Horace and Claude preceded her in death.

Nora Lee Joiner and Ivory Spring were united in marriage on July 18, 1966. He preceded her in death. During their marriage she recognized that she and her husband needed to be together so she joined Mt. Erie Baptist Church. Ten years later, she reunited with the Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church.  Ivory Spring later became a member of the Golden Gate family also and he served faithfully until his death.

Nora Lee Spring possessed the character of a Christian woman. She loved her Golden Gate family. She enjoyed studying and discussing the Bible. She was a charter member of Mission II and she was a member of M.A. Jones Circle where she served for many years. She also served many years as a Sunday School teacher in Adult Department # 2. She sang in all the choirs for a number of years. She was chosen as courtesy person of the year in 2001. In 2001 she was also honored to become one of the Silver Eagles of the church. She was a member of the Mothers? Board. She was a friend and a mentor to many.

She was preceded in death by three brothers Felton, Elie, Walter Vernon Watson and sisters Merrill Kate Rowe, Lorine King, Lucille Moore, Clemmie Gaston and Geraldine Scott.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sister Velva Lee Carter, Oakland, CA, and Eugenia Norice. Grandchildren: Belinda Henderson ( Randy), George Coleman (Melissa), Anthony Adams (Bonita), Mother of her grandchildren her daughter In-Law Joyce Nickerson. Great-grandchildren: Randaisha, Desmond and Cathryn Latrice Henderson, Cierra Coleman, Demarcus Hollis, and Antronette Brown. Special friends  Gerald & Paula Young ,Mrs. Doris Frazier,  R.A.& Georgette Session and a host nieces , nephews ,relatives and friends.
