Ocie Jones

Ocie Jones will be truly missed, remembered and loved long after her passing.

 On Thursday June 22, 2023, Ocie Jones received her wings at the age of 83. Ocie was born on November 11, 1939 in Easton, TX to her loving parents Richard and Hattie Nelson who preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death her only child, daughter Olean “Ora” Davis, her siblings, Marie Coleman, Odessa Nelson, Jacob Nelson and Ruthie B. Overstreet.

 Ocie worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield as dietician for many years, until her retirement. She joined God’s Hospital Holiness Church over 20 years ago where she remained a member until her passing.

 Ocie was also known as “Big Momma'' to her grandchildren, who she raised after her daughter’s passing. Big Momma was a loving grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Always a caregiver, she would have food to eat and a place to stay, for the neighborhood kids who needed it. She was short on words, and when she had something to say, you paid attention because she was usually right.

 Ocie Jones “Big Momma” leaves to cherish her memories: Three grandchildren Maria R. Harris of Dallas TX, Dora M. Green of San Antonio TX, and Elbert D. Davis of Murfreesboro TN. She also leaves great-grandchildren Anthony R. Butler, Christian B. Harris, Morgan M. Harris, Gayle M. Jones, Daniel C. Curry and Skyler Davis, along with great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
