Ollie Sudds

Mrs. Ollie B. (Evans) Sudds was born August 23, 1922 in Dallas, Texas to Henry Evans and Johnnie Louise (Toliver) Hardin Evans (both parents preceded her in death).
At an early age, she united with True Vine Baptist Church where she served as youth musician; and, was a member of the Crescent City Chapter No. 201 Order of the Eastern Star. The church is now True Lee Missionary Baptist Church.
Ollie’s early education began at Julius C. Frazier Elementary School. She later attended Booker T. Washington and Lincoln High Schools. Always an avid reader, at the age of 16, Ollie graduated valedictorian of her Lincoln High School class.
She obtained her beauticians and later her LVN licenses. She worked as a nurse at Baylor and Parkland Hospitals and the City of Dallas Health Department until her retirement.
In 1943 Ollie united in marriage with Arthur Sudds and to this union three children were born. Ollie and Arthur moved their family to North Dallas and joined Hamilton Park United Methodist Church. She served as a faithful member of the Alter and Flower Guild, The Golden Cup, the Food Pantry and the Communion board until her health failed.
Ollie’s beloved husband, Arthur Sudds; half sisters Ophelia Hardin Chism and Pauline Hervey Green; and half brother Melvin Hardin preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory - Children: John Vincent Sudds, Sr., daughters Marcia Elaine Sudds and Arnita Rae Talley. Grand children: Parrish (Robert) Dixon; John V. Sudds, Jr.; Sharonda Talley, Yolanda (Marlon) Talley-Kelley, Teneisha Ewing, and Julius Sudds. Great Grand children: Princess White, Jesse (Junko) White, DeMarlon Kelley, Stormey Kelley, Jaylen Mays, and Christopher Hooper Jr. Great-great grand children: Xavier Swing, Drake White, and Uriah Johnson.
